MOSCOW SPEAKS ENGLISH 2018 celebrates the English language in Moscow with over seventy-five language–oriented events all over the city including English language films, theater and cultural events, language workshops and seminars, English speaking practice and other surprises.

This year’s MOSCOW SPEAKS ENGLISH features events and seminars highlighting the best of British and American film and theatre.

Dear Friends,

Now, in our fifth year, I would like to welcome you to Moscow Speaks English 2018. Our English language week is a significant event for the entire Moscow English-speaking community and it’s really great that you will be joining us this year for one (or more) of our many exciting and informative English language events, seminars and workshops.

For all participants, MOSCOW SPEAKS ENGLISH has become a place where English-speaking friends meet and exchange knowledge and experiences in a place that not only unifies but also strengthens relations with our English-speaking community. Welcome and have a great time.

The Madness of George III

It’s 1786 and King George III is the most powerful man in the world. But his behavior is becoming increasingly erratic as he succumbs to fits of lunacy. With the King’s mind unravelling at a dramatic pace, ambitious politicians and the scheming Prince of Wales threaten to undermine the power of the Crown and expose the fine line between a King and a man. The cast of this new production includes Olivier Award-winners Mark Gatiss (Sherlock) in the title role.

Socialist Surrealism

The Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center presents “Socialist Surrealism”, an exhibition featuring 16 large-format works by photographer Sasha Gentsis. At the heart of the project is the contradiction between socialism’s conceptual utopia and the everyday life of the Soviet Union. Guided tours in English.

English: The Language of Money

This workshop aims to raise participants’ awareness of verbs which collocate with 'money' and give them practice using them and promote autonomy by encouraging the deduction of meaning of unknown lexis from context.

Moscow English Comedy Club

The English Moscow Comedy Club is the only organization in Moscow which puts on comedy shows in English. Those include stand-up comedy, improvisational comedy, panel shows, podcasts etc. Their mission is to organize and help develop different comedic activities under one unified brand and deliver high quality comedy shows in English in Moscow.

The past few years have seen a rigorous expansion of comedy in Moscow; Now English StandUp Comedy in Moscow is definitely getting its due after years of neglect.
